Pascal Lamy’s speeches

This donation will finance technical assistance programmes to assess trade facilitation needs and priorities of developing and least developed countries. Trade facilitation looks at how procedures and controls governing the movement of goods across national borders can be improved to reduce costs and burdens. It also allows trade flows to be as efficient as possible.

Chinese Taipei is the second donor to this fund and is one of the beneficiaries.

WTO Director General Pascal Lamy declared “I welcome this donation which illustrates Chinese Taipei's commitment to help developing countries integrate in the global economy. Trade facilitation is crucial for these countries to take better advantage of the multilateral trading system”.

Chinese Taipei's Permanent Representative Yi-fu Lin stated “With this donation, Chinese Taipei intends to help developing countries improve their trading capacity and use trade as a tool for economic development.”
