This donation will finance technical assistance programmes and training
activities for developing and least developed countries as well as economies in
transition. The aim is to better adapt their practices and laws to WTO rules and
disciplines, improve the implementation of their obligations and enhance the
exercise of their membership rights.
WTO Director General Pascal Lamy declared “I am very pleased that Romania has
joined other WTO members in assisting developing countries to increase their
participation in the multilateral trading system.”
Romania’s Ambassador Doru Romulus Costea stated “Romania is proud to support the
WTO Trust Fund and help developing nations benefit from the global economy.
Romania will keep on assisting the poorest countries to find new markets and
trading opportunities.”
