TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

This last contribution brings Spain’s total contribution of to the DDAGTF up to CHF4.1 million since its creation in 2001. Spain’s overall contribution to the WTO trust funds has reached CHF4.4million.

This donation will finance technical assistance programmes and training activities for the Latin American and Caribbean countries. The aim is to enhance their ability to participate effectively in the WTO negotiations and ensure they fully benefit from the results achieved during these negotiations. 

WTO Director General Pascal Lamy declared “ I welcome this new donation which demonstrates Spain’s continuing commitment to assist developing countries to participate more effectively in the multilateral trading system and to benefit more fully from integration in the global economy”

Spain’s Secretary of State for Trade, Silvia Iranzo Gutierrez stated “ this contribution reflects Spain’s concrete and continuous support in assisting poorer countries, develop their trading activities and make trade work for development and poverty reduction.”
