AID FOR TRADE

Building trade finance institutions through Aid for Trade

Trade Finance Facilitation Programmes provided by regional or multilateral development agencies also contain technical assistance by way of helping developing countries members' financial institutions to create trade finance departments. Donor trust funds are used to send professional teams to help such banks develop this necessary infrastructure.

With respect to export credit agencies, the Berne Union has its own network of members willing to help other countries set up export credit agencies. The development of trade finance infrastructure has been identified by various Aid for Trade regional and global reviews as a key area to expand the capacity of developing countries to supply the necessary trade finance to themselves or in the course of south-south trade.
